SUMMARY: Stop hiding files from Windows 2000 Explorer views.
Windows 2000 normally protects you from seeing hidden or many internal operating system files. This way, you are less likely to modify or delete files that are crucial to your system. There may be times, however, when you need to see hidden files or browse o/s-critical files to ensure you have the right versions of DLLs or objects.
This tip is for expert users only.
1. Double-click "My Computer".
2. Click the "Tools" menu and select "Options".
3. When the "Folder Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select the "View" tab.
4. Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
5. Select the "Show hidden files and folders" radio button.
6. Press OK to close the dialog box.
