Windows 2000 and Tweak UI - Download and Install Tweak UI

Tweak UI lets you modify hidden Windows 2000 settings, most of which normally require registry modifications. Thus, if you like to tweak your system, you should get this tool. Microsoft made the file small for quicker downloads, but in doing so, made the Tweak UI installation less than user-friendly. Thus, you should follow these instructions to download and install Tweak UI for Windows 2000.

Tweak UI for Windows 2000 can currently be downloaded from the following site on Microsoft.com (this URL is subject to change):

http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/
powertoys/networking/nttweakui.asp

Click the "Download Now" button on the website to acquire this tool. Open the file, and a WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box should appear. Click Unzip to unzip the files, then before you close the dialog box, copy the path shown in the textbox and visit that folder using Windows Explorer.

Once you have opened up the folder, find the icon labeled "tweakui.inf". Right-click the icon and choose "Install". If all goes well, an "About Tweak UI" window should appear. After reading the text, go ahead and close the window, then close the WinZip Self-Extractor window.

To start up TweakUI for Windows 2000, click "Start", "Settings", then "Control Panel". When the "Control Panel" window appears, double-click "Tweak UI".

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Windows 2000 and Tweak UI - Download and Install Tweak UI
