Windows 2000 and Tweak UI - Scroll Faster with the Mouse

SUMMARY: With Tweak UI for Windows 2000, you can scroll through documents faster with your mouse.

If you have a wheel mouse, you may tire of constantly scrolling to navigate through pages of websites, text documents, etc. Normally, when you scroll with the wheel, documents move up or down three lines at a time. However, you can change Windows 2000's settings so that one touch of the wheel scrolls a document completely up or down one page.

(Note that with some mouse drivers, you can do the same thing by accessing the Mouse Control Panel without installing Tweak UI.)

To change the mouse wheel settings:

1. Download, install, and run Tweak UI for Windows 2000 using the tips mentioned in MalekTips.

2. When "Tweak UI" starts, click the "Mouse" tab.

3. Select "Scroll a page at a time".

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Note that this setting will not affect all programs. For example, Internet Explorer 6 handles this setting fine, but older versions of software, such as Microsoft Word 2000, may not recognize this change.
