Windows 95 Misc - Setting Default Folder for Programs

SUMMARY: Most Windows 95 programs are set up to use default folders for document storage. Here's how to change the folders used.

(Please note: For the most part, the word folders and directories are interchangeable)

Some programs in Windows 95 can be set up to use default folders, such as WordPad. To do so, use Explorer to find the shortcut for the program, or make a new one. Right-click the shortcut and choose "Properties." On the dialog box that appears, click on the "Shortcut" tab. Where it says "Start in," key in the desired default directory.

This will not start the specified program in the desired directory if you enter by double-clicking a file related to that program in Explorer, but it should put the program in the default directory when you start it the normal way.

This trick may not work with every program, so feel free to experiment.
