Windows 95 - Explorer - Drives - Folders - Files

View the Hidden

SUMMARY: You may have hidden files all over your Windows 95 computer holding useful information or just taking up space. Click here to see how to find them.

Windows 95 normally hides certain files from Explorer views for your protection. These include, but are not limited to, the registry files, *.GID files, and in-use temporary files. While you normally should not attempt to access these files directly, there may be times where you need to see these files and access them for archiving or other purposes. To do so, right-click the "Start" button, choosing "Explore." Choose the "View" menu, selecting "Options..." Click on the "View" tab on the dialog box that follows. Select "Show All Files." Press "OK" to close the dialog box.

Note: Do NOT just go around deleting temporary files unless you know what you're doing!
