Windows 95 Misc
Use Quotes When You "Run"
SUMMARY: How to solve Windows 95 Program Not Found errors from the Start menu.
Although Windows 95 supports long filenames for 32-bit apps (and third-party applications will also allow 16-bit apps. to share in this feature), there are still areas in the operating system shell which do not recognize all of the long filename characteristics. One of these areas is the "Run" option from the "Start" menu.
When trying to "Run" a program or directory that contains a space in its long filename, Windows 95 will report that it cannot find the file. To solve this problem, simply place quote characters around the command-line string. For example, to run the file called d:\program files\applications\my great app.exe, you need to type this when the "Run" dialog box appears:
"d:\program files\applications\my great app.exe"
