PowerToys - QuickRes Color Depth Problem
SUMMARY: Use QuickRes to change the Windows 95 color depth on-the-fly with graphics cards that don't normally support this feature.
The QuickRes utility that comes in the Windows 95 "PowerToys" set is excellent for changing the screen dimensions on-the-fly, allowing you to only use the higher resolutions when viewing web pages, digitized photography, etc., and using the less-dense resolutions otherwise to aid your eyes. Color-depth can also be changed using the QuickRes tool; this, however, does not work perfectly. When changing the color depth, most programs will either not accept the change and continue displaying their colors the normal way, or will start to display the colors very strangely. This is a problem, but a normal one with QuickRes - simply closing and re-starting the offending application(s) should solve the problem every time you change color depths.
