Scanners Not Appearing in Device Manager

SUMMARY: Should you be concerned if your scanner does not appear in the Windows 95 Device Manager? If the scanner works, maybe not - here's why.

Certain Windows 95 scanners, including the Mustek Paragon 1200SP (which has its own interface card), may not appear in Windows 95's Device Manager. Don't worry about it. If the scanner works, you do not need to force Windows 95 to 'recognize' it with the device manager. Attempting to manually install a 'device' may just cause more problems. Remember, though, that if the scanner uses a particular IRQ, Windows 95 may not realize this and may try to reallocate that IRQ to another device.
