Windows 95 General Troubleshooting
How Much Physical Memory Left?
SUMMARY: Find out how much physical memory is left with Windows 95; if there is a lot of memory left, you may not thrash the hard drive as much.
Interested in finding out how much physical memory is remaining after opening several Windows 95 programs? Under your "System Tools" group (which may itself be under Accessories) you'll find System Monitor, a utility that can show the free physical memory plus show how much of the swap file is in use, and much more. If you can't find this utility, click on the "Start" program, then "Settings," then "Control Panel." On the window that appears, double-click "Add/Remove Programs." Click on the "Windows Setup" tab on the multi-tabbed dialog box that appears. Double-click "Accessories." On the dialog box that appears, scroll down to "System Monitor" and check it. Now, click OK to close the dialog box.
