Bring Back Program Manager
SUMMARY: Remember Windows 3.1's Program Manager? Bring it back with Windows 95!
This tip was written by MalekTips reader Dave Morton.
For those of you who like the Windows 3.1 "Program Manager" better than the Windows 95 "Start" button, it's still there. Simply open the windows.ini file located in the C:\WINDOWS\ directory and change the line that says "Shell=Explorer.exe" to "Shell=Progman.exe". When you reboot, the "Program Manager" will come up instead of the "Start" button. Be prepared to recreate all of the shortcuts you need in the "Program Manager," as it does not automatically pick up the items in the "Start" menu.
