Windows 95 General Troubleshooting
Graphics Cards and Modems
SUMMARY: Is your modem not working after installing a new graphics card in Windows 95?
After successfully installing a new graphics card on your machine, immediately check to see if the modem still operates. Many graphics cards, including some Diamond cards and cards using the S3 chipset, will conflict with modems installed on COM port 4 due to an IRQ needed by the graphics card. If your modem fails to work, reinstall it on a different COM port.
