Defrag all at once

SUMMARY: Increase drive performance - defrag all of your drives at once with Windows 95. Here's how.

I try to 'practice what I preach', including using the Windows 95 Defrag utility often, but I have two hard drives, each partitioned multiple times. Luckily, Defrag has an 'optimize all' option that works well for this situation. To DEFRAG all drives at once:

Click on the 'Start' menu, choosing "Programs", then "Accessories", then "System Tools", then "Disk Defragmenter".

On the 'Select Drive' dialog box that follows, click on the combo box (the down arrow) and choose 'All Hard Drives.'

Click the "OK" button to 'let 'er rip!

Defrag will defragment each hard drive in order, only pausing (to my knowledge) if a drive has an error. If so, you need to stop the entire Defrag process and run SCANDISK immediately to attempt to fix the error. ScanDisk can be found in the same menu as "Disk Defragmenter."
