Start Menu Sluggish?
SUMMARY: Is your Windows 95 Start menu slow? This tip may pep it up.
Is your Windows 95 "Start" menu a little sluggish? Besides improving your computer's speed, RAM, hard drive speed, etc., there are two possible ways to speed up the "Start" menu.
Option 1: Get TweakUI from Microsoft's (c) website at http://www.microsoft.com. It's part of the PowerToys (c) suite. After installing and running TweakUI, move the "Menu speed" trackbar all the way to the left.
Option 2: Run the registry edit (REGEDIT.EXE). Expand "HKEY_CURRENT_USER." Expand "Control Panel." Click on the "Desktop" icon. Create a new "String Value" under Desktop, named "MenuShowDelay." Afterwards, double-click on the newly created "MenuShowDelay" to modify the value. Change it to '0' for the fastest menus - '10' for the slowest menus. When you are finished, click OK to close the "Modify" dialog box, then exit REGEDIT if desired.
You may need to reboot your machine for these settings to become active.
