Windows 95 Audio

Get the Midi Length without Playing

SUMMARY: Figure out how long a midi song will play with Windows 95. May be useful when planning multimedia demos.

If you are one who collects a multitude of midi files for play on your Windows 95 system, there may be times where you would like to set up a 'jukebox' program whereby you can play a whole set of midis one after the other without having to click on each midi, run "Play," wait till it is finished, click on the next midi, etc. If timing is critical for such a jukebox, or if you have a business presentation which requires multimedia elements to activate at the same time, it will be necessary to pull up the exact length of midi files. While you can play each midi to find the lengths of each appropriate song, an easier way to find the times is to right-click on each midi, choose "Properties," and then click on the "Details" tab on the dialog box which follows. You will then be shown the length of the midi file you have selected.
