Windows 95 and DOS

Don't Use DOS Defrag

SUMMARY: Why you shouldn't use the old DOS defrag program with Windows 95.

If you upgraded to Windows 95 from Windows 3.1 or an earlier version of DOS, you may still have the old DOS Defrag utility. Do not use this program if you can help it! If you run Defrag while you are running Windows 95 or later, you may cause much damage to your files. If you run Defrag outside of Windows 95, you may lose your long filenames. Only use the graphical Defrag program that came with Windows or a defrag utility that is made to run in your current version of Windows.
