With the Internet surging in popularity, even though dial-up ISPs seem to be cropping up at an astounding rate, you are going to get busy signals occasionally. To save keystrokes, mouse-clicks, and frustration, here is how to force Windows 95's Dial-Up Networking tool to auto-redial if it cannot connect.

Click on the "Start" menu and choose "Accessories," then "Dial-Up Networking." Click on the "Connections" menu and choose "Settings." On the dialog box that follows, click on the box next to "Redial" so it gets checked. Choose how long you wish to wait before Dial-Up Networking forces a re-dial and how long it should go before giving up on the call altogether. After typing in your selections, click on the "OK" button.

Note that Dial-Up Networking will NOT auto-redial if it is invoked by an Internet application. Also, Dial-Up Networking may not auto-redial if a connection is made but carrier is lost in the password authorization process.
