Windows 95 Fonts - Increase Font Size

SUMMARY: Change the default font size in Windows 95.

If you find yourself constantly squinting while using Win95, or if you find that the size of the text is too big and you'd like to cram more on the screen, you may find this tip useful.

With most Win95 display drivers, you have the option of changing the font size. Under Win3.1 the options most people had were just "small fonts" and "large fonts," but Win95 takes this functionality a step further by allowing custom font sizes.

To change the size of the fonts, first find a space on the desktop free of any icons or windows. Click the right mouse-button, and choose "Properties" from the cascading menu which follows. Click on the tab "Settings" on the "Display Properties" dialog box that follows. Under the "Font Size" section, click on "Custom..." Adjust the ruler to make the fonts appear to the size you specify, and click OK. Lastly, click OK to leave the "Display Properties" dialog box.

As warned from a dialog box which follows, certain programs may not adjust themselves to the new font size chosen. The only way to know for sure which applications will work correctly is by experimentation.
