Where's My Modem?

SUMMARY: Determine the COM port used by your modem.

Has this happened to you - a communications program is asking for your modem's COM port, but you don't know which one it is since Win95 handled setting up your modem? You can find this value easily. Click "Start," then "Settings," then "Control Panel." Double-click the "Modems" icon on the window that appears. On the following multi-tabbed dialog box, choose the "Diagnostics" tab. Now, find your modem and its associated COM port number.
