Windows 95 Installation and Upgrading

Make Win3.1 Apps Compatible

MKCOMPAT.EXE is a program in the "WINDOWS\SYSTEM" directory that many people do not know about. What this program does is allow you to "force" Win3.1 programs that act strangely or crash often in Win95 to "behave" by doing things such as having Win95 lie about its version number, modifying how programs deal with fonts, etc. Be sure to check out the "Advanced Options" in the "File" menu for more ways of making Win3.1 applications compatible under Win95.
