SUMMARY: Older Windows 3.1 applications may fail when processing files with long names.
After upgrading to Windows 95, you can get used to those long filenames very quickly. This may pose a problem if you still use 16-bit applications that don't understand long filenames. If you create a file with a long filename in a 32-bit application and save it, then if you re-edit that file in a 16-bit application and save it, your long filename will disappear. Either upgrade your old applications to their 32-bit forms, forget using long filenames for a while, be VERY careful (!), or you can find software that lets you use long filenames with your older applications. One such program, called Instant File Access, can be found at http://www.alexoft.com/.
