Windows 95 Keyboard Shortcuts - Quick Bold, Italic, and Underline

SUMMARY: Here's how to quickly bold, italicize, or underline your text without moving your hands from the keyboard to the mouse.

Tired of clicking on the "B" button in software programs to make text bold, the "I" button for italics, the "U" button for underline, etc.? In many software packages, such as most common word processors, control-B will make text bold, control-I will italicize text, and control-U will underline text. Experiment.

When you are ready to turn off the bold, italicize, and/or underline modes, most programs let you do this by just pressing the same keystrokes again. For example, in Microsoft Word, pressing CONTROL-B would turn on 'bold' mode. Anything typed afterwards would appear in bold. Press CONTROL-B again and 'bold' mode would be turned off. Anything typed afterwards would not appear in bold.
