Windows 95 Movies and AVIs - Startup Movie

SUMMARY: Play a movie every time you boot up your Windows 95 system.

Businesses (or very creative individuals!) may wish to have a movie play every time they run Win95. This could be a clip downloaded over the net for personal use, or, for businesses, a ray-traced animated company logo whenever the computer boots up.

To accomplish this, first open the WINDOWS\STARTM~1\PROGRAMS\STARTUP directory. Click on "File," then "New," and then "Shortcut." Next, type in "X:\WINDOWS\MPLAYER.EXE /PLAY /CLOSE "(substituting the letter X for your Windows drive letter). Now, type in the filename (including the full path) where your desired startup midi is located.

For example: My Win95 drive is C, and I wish to play the file "CoolLogo.avi" in my C:\LOGOS directory. My full command line would be:

c:\windows\mplayer.exe /play /close c:\logos\CoolLogo.avi

Click "Next," and type in whichever name you wish for the shortcut's filename. Finish it up, and in no time flat, you now have a movie that will play every time Windows starts!
