Windows 95 Movies and AVIs - Problems with Downloaded Movies?

Are you having problems with certain movie files that you downloaded? If so, here are three possible remedies.

1. Make sure the video file was not corrupted when downloaded. You may want to try re-downloading the file. If problems persist, remember that the file MAY be corrupt on the server as well, rendering it unplayable.
2. Are your video drivers up-to-date? Check your video card manufacturer's website for possible updates.
3. Are your codecs and MCI drivers up-to-date? Codecs (short for compression-decompression) provide your computer with the code to decompress and play movies. Without them, movie files would be much larger. MCI drivers (Media Control Interface) provide your computer the ability to access media devices. You may want to look at the website/ftp site where you downloaded the movie file for more information about updated codecs or drivers, or visit Microsoft's website <http://www.microsoft.com> for updated drivers such as media player upgrades.
