Windows 95 Reboot and Shutdown Shut Down Explorer - But Not Windows If you have one of the following problems: You've messed up the taskbar (perhaps by removing the Start button from the taskbar) An Explorer window is 'locked' You may have to restart Win95 to fix the problem - normally. Or, try pressing CONTROL - ALT - DELETE. Click on "Explorer," and then "Exit Task." On the window that appears, press the CANCEL button so you do NOT want to restart Win95. A few seconds later, Win95 will tell you that Explorer is not responding. Click the "End Task" button. Explorer will close and then immediately restart.
