Windows 95 Screensavers

Make a Screen Saver Hotkey

It's easy to create a hotkey for your favorite Win95 screen saver {a hotkey is a special keystroke you can key in from just about anywhere to execute a special function). To do so:

1.First, create a screen saver shortcut on your desktop (see the previous tip in MalekTips).
2. Right mouse-click the screen saver shortcut's icon, selecting "Properties."
3. Click on the "Shortcut" tab of the dialog box that follows.
4. Click on the line next to "Shortcut key" and enter in your desired shortcut key, making sure it does not conflict with other keystrokes frequently used in Win95.
5. Press "OK."

Now, any time you press the hotkey, your screen saver appears!

NOTES:

1. This only works with standard Win95 screen saver (.SCR) files and not for proprietary types such as AfterDark (c) (which includes its own hotkey procedure).

2. If you have several favorite Win95 screen saver files, you can repeat the above steps as often as desired for each screen saver (.SCR) file.
