Windows 95 Taskbar - Toolbar - Clear the Documents Submenu

By pressing the "Start" menu, Win95, shows a "Documents" cascading menu, displaying the names and icons of the last-opened documents from any Win95 application using the standard "Open" dialog box. Although this can be a very handy feature, there may be times where the menu needs to be cleared for business, personal, or security reasons.

To accomplish this, first click on the "Start" Menu, and choose "Settings." Click on "Taskbar" from the cascading menu that follows. In the "Taskbar Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box which follows, choose the tab labeled "Start Menu Programs." Under the sub-section "Documents Menu," choose the button labeled "Clear." Last, press OK.

If you now view the Documents submenu from the "Start" button, you would see that the menu is now clear.

If you want this menu cleared every time you start Win95, download TweakUI, part of the PowerToys suite, from http://www.microsoft.com

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Windows 95 Taskbar - Toolbar - Clear the Documents Submenu
