Windows 98 - TweakUI
Hide Control Panel Entries
SUMMARY: For security, remove Windows 98 Control Panel entries with TweakUI.
Do you have certain control panel options that you don't wish to use? Or, do you have control panel options that you want to make sure others can't use on your Windows 98 system?
1. Access the Tweak UI Control Panel applet (if you do not have it installed, read the tip elsewhere in MalekTips).
2. On the multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, click on the "Control Panel" tab (you may need to click on the arrows next to the tabs to cycle through the tabbed windows).
3. Now, uncheck the boxes next to any control panel extensions that you do now wish to see.
4. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.
As the note in Tweak UI says, removing a checkbox does not mean the respective Control Panel entry cannot be executed. It is just much harder to do so under Windows 98.
