Windows 98 - TweakUI - Fix corrupt icon displays

SUMMARY: If Windows 98 is showing corrupt icons, TweakUI may help.

Sometimes, when running Windows 98, Explorer may show incorrect or corrupt icons. In some instances, the icons on your taskbar/toolbar may be messed up, and you can fix that problem by right-clicking and selecting "refresh" (see the previous tip in MalekTips - Windows 98 - Taskbar/Toolbar). Sometimes, though, this will not work.

If this does not work:

1. Access the Tweak UI Control Panel applet (if you do not have it installed, read the tip elsewhere in MalekTips).
2. On the multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, click on the "Repair" tab (you may need to click on the arrows next to the tabs to cycle through the tabbed windows).
3. Make sure "Rebuild Icons" is selected in the pulldown (select it from the pulldown list if it is not) and click "Repair Now."
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
