Periodically Adobe will come out with minor updates to Adobe Reader that address performance, security, stability, and other concerns. To see if such updates are available, you can manually check for them by choosing "Help" - "Check for updates now".

After Adobe Reader 7 accesses the Internet, a dialog box will appear allowing you to install updates, if available. Note that Adobe likes to sneak in other features and trial software, such as "Photoshop Album Startup Edition". You can choose to install this software if you wish, but choosing not to install this software will not prevent you from downloading actual Adobe Reader 7 updates.

This update feature normally allows you to retrieve only minor updates. When major new versions of Adobe Reader are available, you will most likely have to download them from the Adobe website.
