SUMMARY: Prevent possible security vulnerabilities by disabling Adobe Reader 7 JavaScript.
Adobe Reader 7.0 supports JavaScript inside PDF files, providing certain documents with interactive elements and other features. However, vulnerabilities have been found with earlier versions of Adobe Reader and JavaScript that may prompt some people to disable this support in Adobe Reader 7.0 for security reasons:
1. Click "Edit" - "Preferences".
2. When the "Preferences" dialog box appears, click the "JavaScript" category.
3. Uncheck "Enable Acrobat JavaScript".
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
Disabling this feature, however, may prevent certain PDF documents from being displayed correctly.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Adobe Reader 7 - Disable JavaScript
