Digital Aerial Photography - Flying Low

When taking aerial photographs, should you fly low so that you don't have to zoom in as much?

Advantages:

* Haze and clouds are reduced as you are flying underneath them.
* Your focus may not have to be set for infinity, thus reducing inherent camera shake.

Disadvantage:

* Flying low can be much more dangerous. There's less room to react if the plane suffers a mechanical problem, and if you are in a city or mountainous surrounding, the lower you fly the greater the chance your plane or helicopter will be on the same level as potential obstacles.
