Digital Aerial Photography - Plan for Long Lines at Skyscrapers

SUMMARY: Don't show up too late to take great sunset or dusk photos from the top of a tall skyscraper.

Planning on taking 'aerial' photography from the viewing deck of a skyscraper such as the Sears Tower in Chicago or the Empire State Building in New York? Plan your time wisely, as long lines can be expected.

If you want to take photos from an observation deck at a particular time, such as right at sunset or dusk, be sure to arrive very early. I've seen crowds of way over an hour waiting to reach the top of a tall skyscraper.

Usually (but not guaranteed), once you make it to the top of an observation deck, you can stay around for a long time without getting kicked out. Thus, even if you show up an hour before dusk, you should be able to remain long enough to take great photos as the sky produces its brilliant nightly color show.
