Digital Wildlife and Animal Photography - Use a Polarizing Filter When Near Water

SUMMARY: Polarizing filters can reduce reflections that might otherwise overpower images of animals.

Interested in taking digital photography of fish, ducks, or other animals swimming in a stream, lake, or river? Consider brining along a circular polarizing filter. On a sunny day, this can help reduce reflections that might "wash out" the images of fish or other animals.

You will probably need to experiment with the filter; while you want the animals to stand out, you also don't want the water to look lifeless, so allowing a reduced amount of reflection in your photo may not be a bad idea.
