SUMMARY: Need to see if an application works with Windows Vista? Check the official lists.
Microsoft keeps track of applications that either are certified for use with Windows Vista or work with Windows Vista.
Certified applications pass a test that "target four core areas: reliability, security, compatibility with Windows Vista and future operating systems, and installation and removal".
Applications that work with Vista may have not completely gone through the certification process but may still work with the operating system.
While you can check the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to determine if applications on your machine should work with the operating system, perhaps you just want to scan the list of applications to determine if you should even attempt to upgrade.
