Buying a Printer

Consider a Printer that Supports Duplex Printing

SUMMARY: Duplex printing may save you time and money by automatically printing on both sides of paper.

Depending on your typical printing tasks, duplex printing is one feature you should consider when purchasing a printer.

Automatic duplex printing means the printer can print on both sides of a piece of paper. Why is this useful?

* Booklets, manuals, and brochures may require output on both sides of paper. Without automatic duplex printing, you must stand or sit next to the printer and continue to re-feed the back of printed sheets through the printer. Not only does this waste your time but it also increases the chances of paper jams.

* Some printing tasks are for internal use only, such as draft copies of reports or webpage printouts. For these documents, the "professionalism" of one-sided printing is not required. By printing on both sides, you use less paper, thus you can save money. Plus, using less paper is good for the environment.
