Buying a Printer

Can A Printer Print Photos Without Edges?

SUMMARY: The difference between printing photos on a regular printer and photo printer.

When purchasing a color printer, just because the manufacturer's specifications say it can print photographs, it doesn't mean that the printer uses the entire piece of photo paper to print an image. Many printers that claim they can print photographs end up leaving a small white border around the image, a border that you will have to cut out in order to mount the photo in a frame, place in a photo album, etc.

If a color printer can do what is called "Edge To Edge" printing, it can print using an entire piece of photo paper without leaving borders around the image. This way, you will not have to manually crop the output. Most dedicated photo printers can perform this task, but ensure this before making a purchase.
