| Faster Speed May Require USB 2.0 SUMMARY: USB 2.0 may be required to get scanning speeds noted by the manufacturer.
Are you planning on buying a USB-compatible scanner? Before you check the manufacturer's specifications on the document scanning speed, see if the scanner supports USB 2.0 as well as USB 1.1. If so, the scanner specifications are usually valid only if USB 2.0 is enabled on your computer.
If your computer does not support USB 2.0, you may still be able to use the scanner you are considering purchasing - but your document scanning speed may be substantially slower. To solve this problem, you may be able to purchase and install (or have installed) a USB 2.0 interface card.
