Send Messages to Your Phone from Firefox

SUMMARY: A Mozilla Firefox extension lets you send text messages to your mobile phone.

This tip works for US phone numbers only.

While browsing the web, ever need to send a quick snippet of text from a webpage to yourself for later reading? Perhaps you need to copy walking directions to the nearest bank or Starbucks and don't want to write them down.

Google Labs offers an extension to the Firefox web browser called "Google Send to Phone". With this extension you can highlight text on a webpage, click a phone icon, enter the destination phone number, and confirm the text you wish to send.

Note that your cell phone provider may charge you for text messages if you are not under an unlimited plan; check with your mobile phone provider for details.

As of September 12, 2007, this extension is part of the Google Labs. Thus, it is still in testing and subject to change.
