What is Voice Dialing?
Many cell phones contain a feature called voice dialing, or hands-free dialing. Instead of dialing numbers into your cell phone you can merely say a name and the cell phone will dial the associated number.
Assuming your cell phone has this voice dial feature (check through your cell phone menu or printed manual), you may first have to train your phone to recognize your voice. This is usually performed by selecting a number you want associated with a name or phrase, then speaking the desired name or phrase into your cell phone 1-3 times. Use your normal speaking voice at your normal speaking volume for best results.
In other words, training your cell phone while you have a cold may not be a good idea.
After your cell phone is trained for a particular number, you can then select the voice dial feature from the menu (or press a shortcut key on your cell phone if applicable) and say the name/phrase. If your cell phone recognizes what you said it should dial the appropriate number, saving you from fumbling around the keypad!
There is a limit to the voice dial feature; cell phones may only hold 10, 20, 50, or 100 voice dial names/phrases. Thus, prioritize which numbers you call the most.
