Completely Erase Files

SUMMARY: Use CounterSpy's Secure File Eraser to make it very difficult for others to retrieve your private information.
 
Selling your computer and need to erase all files from your hard drive so they cannot be easily recovered? Or do you share your computer with other people and don't want them to see your private files?

CounterSpy comes built-in with a tool called "Secure File Eraser" which claims to completely wipe out files from your hard drive. According to the documentation, this feature uses the "United States Department of Defense recommendations for Secure File Destruction". Thus, once you delete files with CounterSpy, it can be very difficult, if not impossible, to recover these files.

To run this tool, do the following from within CounterSpy:

1. Select "View" - "System Tools" - "Secure File Eraser".

2. The "Secure File Eraser" should appear. Drag and drop files onto the "Files to be Erased" box, or click the "Browse" button to choose files to eliminate.

3. When you are ABSOLUTELY SURE you want to remove the selected files, click the "Erase Now" button. You'll have to confirm your decision.
