Digital Autumn Foliage Photography - Make Preparations Early

SUMMARY: Take extra steps to help ensure great fall foliage digital photos.

* Where are you planning to go? Whether it's the New England countryside, the Smoky Mountains, or elsewhere, plan your trip beforehand to take photos at the best stops. Refer to guide books, personal knowledge, and online resources such as Yahoo's list of fall foliage regional guides and reports.

* Due to weather conditions, it is impossible to determine the exact time peak foliage occurs every year. However, you can get an estimate based on previous peak foliage viewing days. This can be advantageous to know, as hotels and bed & breakfasts near the areas may fill up weeks or months in advance.

* Plan to take a day or two of vacation from work, if possible. If you can take digital photos during the week, you may be able to avoid some of the weekend crowds.
