SUMMARY: Use your macro lens to take photos of a leaf's color gradations.
While most of your digital photography in the fall months may focus on wide-angle shots of a group of trees changing color, don't neglect your macro lens! A photo of an individual leaf, taken with the correct lighting, can focus on the varying subtle gradations of color, resulting in a pleasing photograph.
Note that while you may wish to take the leaves back with you and setup the lighting in a personal studio, this should only be done if the trees are on your property. Taking leaves and plants from a National Park can be a crime.
