Digital Autumn Foliage Photography - Add Subjects to Your Photos

SUMMARY: Add subjects such as cottages or animals to your fall foliage photos to make them stand out.

While digital photos of the autumn foliage can be beautiful as-is, adding a subject to your photo can change the photo from the ordinary to the attention-gathering. What types of subjects am I talking about?

* Cottages, barns, or log cabins
* Horses or other native animals
* A zoomed-in photo of a bird nesting or flying in a tree covered with autumnal foliage

Though you should feel free to experiment, consider (but don't be completely constrained by) the "thirds rule" in your photos where your subject is either in the left or right third quadrant of your picture. With many pictures this will look more pleasing than if a log cabin or animal is directly in the middle.
