Digital Photo Processing

Still Using Windows 98?

SUMMARY: Consider upgrading your version of Windows for more digital photo features.

If you are still using a Windows 98-based computer to store and manage your digital photos, you may want to consider upgrading to Windows XP (after doing a full system backup, of course). Not to sound like an advertisement, but you may want to consider the following enhancements:

* Better folder thumbnail views, and with Tweak UI for Windows XP, you can view fairly large photo thumbnails.

* A file copy wizard opens whenever you add new hardware such as a media device via a USB card reader, providing you with a step-by-step process for transferring files.

* You can view photos as a slideshow without relying on third-party software.

* Instead of navigating the web, a print ordering wizard exists in Explorer, letting you more easily choose which photos to print from a particular photo and the desired sizes of the printed photos.
