Digital Photo Processing - Adjust Redness to Warm Up Photographs

SUMMARY: Give photographs new life by warming up their colors.

If you've ever taken photographs, especially in the outdoors, that seem to be a little too 'cold' or dreary, you may want to consider warming them up. Many image editing programs let you adjust an image's color balance. What this means is that you can take away from an image's cool blueness and add some red or yellow to it for warmth.

For example, in Corel Photopaint, if I choose "Image" - "Adjust Color Balance", I can change, in small increments, the photograph's colors to use less cyan (turquoise) and more red. Even small changes can make a big difference in a photograph, brightening up a dull image.

Check your photo software's manual or online help for information on how to perform this tip. And always, ALWAYS save your originals!
