This tip was printed from the MalekTips Computer and Technology Help and Tips website at http://malektips.com. Digital Photo Processing - Never Disconnect a Camera While Transferring PhotosSUMMARY: Always safely disconnect your digital camera from your computer as per operating system instructions.
If you directly connect a digital camera to your computer to transfer photos from a media device instead of using a card reader, never, never, disconnect the camera while data is transferred! Always wait until data transfer is complete and use your operating system's "Safely Remove Hardware" feature or equivalent. Failure to heed this advice could ruin data on your media card, possibly requiring a reformat in your computer. Or, in some extreme cases, it can leave the media device unusable, especially with MicroDrive units with their tiny mechanical parts. |
