Digital Photography - The Less Compression the Better

When you take pictures with your digital camera, you may think that you need to set your compression levels to high. That way, you can take more photographs without having to change memory cards. Unfortunately, by doing this, your picture clarity falls, as normally the more you compress your photographs, the greater you increase the odds that some pictures may contain spots of blurriness or noise.

With the price of memory falling, it just makes sense to take, and keep, the best pictures possible with your digital camera. Thus, if economically possible, try to set your compression settings on your digital camera as low as possible, or don't use compression at all if you can get away with it. If you can't keep all your photos on one memory card, shop around and buy extra media. I always try to have additional cards on photo shoots, as I know I'll fill up the one currently in the camera.

Look to your camera's documentation on how to increase the picture quality while lowering, if not eliminating, image compression.
