SUMMARY: It's very easy for a finger or two to accidentally cover the lens of a small digital camera, ruining a photo.
While small digital cameras are great in that they are easier to hold and transport, their small size also means it is much harder to hold them correctly without a stray finger or two covering the lens. It can be extremely disappointing to take great shots of landscapes, monuments, or buildings, and only find out later that a stray finger obstructed the entire photo.
Before taking a small digital camera out for a photo shoot, practice holding it firmly with your fingers around the sides of the camera, ensuring enough stability to prevent "camera shake" as well as security to prevent dropping the camera, all the while preventing a finger from covering the lens.
