Digital Photography - Troubleshooting

Don't Always Trust the Power Remaining Indicator

SUMMARY: Your power remaining indicator only shows an approximation of how much is left in your digital camera battery or batteries.

Digital camera power remaining indicators are only a 'best guess'.

If you shoot a lot of photos quickly or use on-camera flash, the indicator may drop dramatically. If you slow down your shooting, the camera may last longer with the same battery (or set of batteries) than you think.

Likewise, the indicator may show that you have some battery power left, then after taking a few photos the indicator can suddenly drop to zero.

Thus, whenever the indicator gets low, consider getting to a position where you can change your battery (batteries) quickly, as it can drop to empty quite suddenly.
