SUMMARY: Tell a story with your sports photography on the events leading up to a play.
To help tell a story, consider taking digital photos of a team or player anticipating a play. If you understand the sport, you will know when this occurs. Perhaps a hockey goalie is waiting to defend as a breakaway scoring opportunity is skating down the ice. The opposing team may be nervous when a game tying free throw is about to occur. A twitching batter is waiting for the last pitch of a 1-0 game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th with a 3-2 count. Offensive and defensive linemen line up, waiting for the snap-count of the final play in a 14-10 game that decides a playoff berth. All of these opportunities can make great photos, if you know where to look.
